While spending my early career professional guiding backpacking and climbing trips with adolescents and adults, I was inspired to pursue a graduate education in counseling psychology. For the past 14 years I've had the honor of working in the mental health and addiction field through wilderness and adventure therapeutic programs, public schools, in-home therapy services, and adult residential and outpatient treatment. I specialize in working with trauma, depression and anxiety, self-esteem, parent coaching and working with individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders or technology overuse. I am passionate about education around mental health and addiction and regularly present at several local, national and international conferences.
Therapy sessions are collaborative and holistic, unique to your needs, and geared towards making lasting changes in your life. For interested clients, I had advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a mode of therapy that directly addresses negative core beliefs and the emotions, sensations and thoughts connected to them using bilateral stimulation of the brain (through alternating eye movements, audio tones or tactile hand-held vibrations). For clients with aversions to traditional office based therapy, I can also conduct therapy sessions outdoors or using art, music or narrative therapy techniques to support the therapeutic process.
I am proud to be an in-network provider with BCBS, United HealthCare, Oxford, UMR, E4 Health, Compsych and Mines and Associates.
